Canned 12/11/18
Appearance - Pours crystal clear and pure gold in color with an off-white, half finger width head that fizzes away in 20 seconds, leaving mostly barren surface with a small island of suds and a thin ring around the edge of the glass.
Smell - Fair aroma, with hops that touch on earth, wood and mild dank and with an underlying hint of fruitiness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Mild earth, wood and lesser dank flavors upfront, followed by some underlying fruitiness that hints at citrus and berry character. Slight spice bite. Fruitiness intensifies mid-taste as the brew warms, but the earthiness does make a comeback in the finish. Faint toasty malt backbone. Aftertaste is a mix of the fruity, lightly toasty and earthy notes playing off each other.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Slick in texture, making this an easy drinker before a slightly dry finish.
Overall - This may not work for everyone, but it's an interesting offering to say the least. Plenty of interesting notes to pick apart. Burning Barrel continues to push the envelope on new and innovative brews, even if they don't always work. Gotta give them credit for that.
