Canned 01/10/19
Appearance - Pours murky and the color of orange juice. Off-white, finger width head that displays fair retention before dying down to a mostly barren surface with a thin, broken ring of suds around the edge of the glass. No lacing, save a small spot or two.
Smell - Big time aroma of passion fruit and lesser guava. That's really all I'm picking up on the nose. Super fruity, tart and mildly musky with a bit of floral character as well.
Flavor - Passion fruit for days. The fruity sweetness, tartness and mildly floral character is all there. Maybe some pink guava mixed in there as well? Is vanilla home? I wasn't sure what U1/108 hops taste like, and I'm sure I still don't. Finish turns extremely tart, and then a bit of bitterness kicks in, leaving a battle between the two in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with low-to-moderate carbonation. Slick, lightly creamy texture with a slightly dry, chalky aftertaste.
Overall - This is amazing... for a sip or two. The passionfruit (and guava?) is just so aggressive that it makes this a fairly unbalanced brew. Still really good, but they need to tweak the recipe so that the other flavors aren't completely drowned out like they are now.
