Had on tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up 8oz into a a large tulip, cascading nitro suds eventually leave a light tan, finger width layer sitting atop the surface.
Smell - Chocolatey aroma with lesser caramel and only a hint of roast.
Taste - Follows the nose. Chocolatey base with hints of caramel, then some booze before light roast makes its presence known in the finish. Light whipped chocolate in the finish with a continuing boozy bite.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with a fluffy, silky and creamy texture. Dry, warming finish.
Overall - Love me some old school impy stouts. Only available on nitro, though. Sigh. While I appreciate the creamy texture that nitro provides, it doesn't justify the amount of flavor it kills in the process. I would love to try this carbonated and get the full flavor experience.
