Had on tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up 8oz into an oversized tulip, pure black with cola brown edging. Mostly barren surface with a thin ring around the edge of the glass. A handful of tiny spots for lace.
Smell - Semi-sweet chocolate aroma. Mild earth. Fair vanilla.
Taste - Follows the nose. Chocolate flavor that is both sweet and lightly earthy, with a bit of vanilla sweetness hitting mid-taste and coasting to the finish.
Mouthfeel - Full -bodied with low-to-moderate carbonation. Smooth, creamy texture before a slightly dry and warming finish.
Overall - Pretty tasty beer, but I can't help to think that it's just begging for a bit of chili pepper spice to make it really shine.
