Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in an oversized tulip, slight haze and copper in color with a thin, broken layer of suds covering the surface. Fair lacing, with broken lines and spotting.
Smell - Peppery spice grabs the nose first, then caramel and a bit of grain. Very faint lime.
Taste - Follows the nose. A modest peppery spice bite upfront, met quickly by some bright lime and mild grain. Caramel sweetness hits in the finish before giving way to fading lime and a lingering spicy heat.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium bodied with fair carbonation. Slick, smooth drinker that finishes slightly dry and a fair burning sensation from the peppers.
Overall - Good spice beer. The heat doesn't overpower, but does tend to build as you get near the end of the pint. Actually you get a lot of nice, natural pepper flavor before a bit of the heat, so that's nice.
