From tasting notes 10/22/19
Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in 13oz snifter, near black with a deep, ruddish hue. Thin, broken layer of suds with a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Fair lacing, with broken webbing, lines and small spotting.
Smell - Fruity tart aroma with a good dose of whipped cream as well.
Taste - Whipped cream and vanilla hit the tongue first and sets the base for the tart, fruity notes to bounce off. Pomegranate is the prominent character there, with lesser peach. Very berry-like. Cream and tartness battle it out mid-taste and into the finish, until it settles into a lingering, creamy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with bitey carbonation. Silky, slightly creamy texture makes this a fine drinker before a crisp, slightly dry finish.
Overall - Very much in tune with their Wake-n-Cake, only tastier. Complex, but harmonious. Burning Barrel continues to kill these dessert sours, and I look forward to the next one.
