Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a large tulip, crystal clear and dark gold incolor wity a thin, broken layer of suds and a fair ring around the edge of the glass. Fair lacing with some broken webbing and small spotting.
Smell - The aroma is nearly as malty as it is hoppy, with citrus peel, toasted malt, buttered toffee and a bit of floral character rounding out the nose.
Taste - Starts with a bright, lime-like citrus, mild floral character, and then malt kicks in with light toast, caramel and a touch of toffee. Finish adds slight earth and pithy bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Really slick, smooth drinker before a mostly dry finish.
Overall - Very nice WC DIPA. The flavor profile is right up my alley, with the hops playing off a nice, layered malt backbone.
