Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a 13oz snifter, hazy and maroon in color with a mostly barren surface. Thin ring of suds encircling the edge of the glass. Patchy lacing, with a few broken lines and some small spots as well.
Smell - The nose offers up a lot of sweet and tart fruitiness, with a bit of whipped cream riding beneath.
Taste - Follows the nose. Tart and sweet, with berries and whipped cream really standing out. Pomegranate and a hint of lime hit mid-taste. Balanced finish, and an aftertaste which lingers with the berry, whipped cream and key lime.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with tingly carbonation. Smooth before a crisp, dry finish.
Overall - Another killer dessert sour. That whipped cream character is so good and so unique; I don't know of any breweries who are doing it; Burning Barrel has it nailed. Mmmm.
