Appearance - Pours black with cola brown edging where light can penetrate. Tan, finger width head that fizzes away fairly quickly, leaving a barren surface on top. No lacing.
Smell - Initial whiff of chocolate and vanilla, then caramel, oak and bourbon sweetness follow through.
Taste - Follows the nose. Chocolatey and with a healthy amount of vanilla upfront and throughout, with lesser caramel riding beneath. Firm oak flavor comes through mid-taste, then a kiss of bourbon sweetness on the finish. Aftertaste lingers with chocolate, vanilla, oak and a slight heat from the bourbon.
Mouthfeel - Full-bodied with light carbonation. Smooth, creamy body before a semi-dry finish.
Overall - I was slightly disappointed with the Coco Zombie in how buried the barrel influence was; this one is spot on. The additional vanilla really compliments the 20 months this baby spent in the barrel. Yeah, its really nice.
