Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a large tulip, clear and brilliant gold in color with a mostly barren surface and a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Lacing hangs on the glass in broken webbing, lines and small spots.
Smell - Sweet and resinous aroma, with orange peel, pine, lesser grapefruit and a hint of caramel.
Taste - Follows the nose. Citrus peel and pine resin dominate the flavor profile, mostly grapefruit on the citrus side. Caramel malt undertone with a trace of biscuit. Finishes with grapefruit pith and a touch of booze.
Mouthfeel - Full-bodied with fair carbonation. Slightly syrupy texture before a drying finish.
Overall - Just like it's namesake, this baby pays homage to the throwback era, a classic West Coast triple IPA that pulls no punches and doesn't apologize for it's aggressive nature. Old school Hop heads will really appreciate this one.
