Had on-tap at Burning Barrel in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up 10oz into a tulip, black with cola brown edging where light can penetrate. Barren surface. No lacing, but none expected.
Smell - An inviting blend of chocolate, vanilla, coffee roast and a hint of lavender. Smelling this is an experience.
Taste - Follows the nose. Fudgy and mocha qualities with a touch of lavender. Dissecting this further finds a deep chocolatey base accented with coffee roast bitterness and silky smooth vanilla sweetness. Lavender comes through in the back end to deliver a light floral quality. Tight and cohesive. Wonderful balance. Beautiful progression.
Mouthfeel - Full in body with low to moderate carbonation. Super velvety, stupid smooth texture. Like drinking a fluffy pillow. Drinks stupid easy despite the fact it's a 10.2% imperial stout.
Overall - Wow. This is unique. This is well balanced. This is smooth. This is flavorful. This is the liquid definition of sensual.
