Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a Belgian tulip, opaque and orange in color with a mostly barren surface; a razor thin ring of suds clinging to the edges. No lacing.
Smell - Bright citrusy aroma, light sugary sweetness, with hints of floral, tropical and oak character.
Taste - Starts bright and lemony, then some lemonade like sweetness; hint of orange and a trace of ruby red grapefruit. Light tropical fruitiness, lesser floral qualities and an underlying oak note. Hint of booze. Nice balance of all the components found in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with moderate carbonation. Smooth drinker before a crisp, dry and refreshing finish.
Overall - Really tasty barrel aged sour. That gin influence really brings this all together. I can't think of a better use for gin barrels than sours, and this brew is proof.
