Appearance - Pours opaque and violet/purple in color. No head. A scattered array of islands make up the suds on the surface, with a a razor thin ring around the edge of the glass.
Smell - Aroma oozes with tart berry and sweet cream. Distant spice riding beneath.
Taste - Sweet berry and creamy vanilla start, then some of the berry tartness begins to rise and continues into the finish, though it peaks before any real sourness is achieved. Definite "pie crust" and spice undertone. Aftertaste lingers with heavy cream and continuing berry tartness. Blackberry mostly, though the blueberry adds it's own light, earthy uniqueness as well.
Mouthfeel - Full-in-body with low carbonation. Thick, creamy texture. Definitely a heavy sitter. Don't drink this on a full stomach.
Overall - Burning Barrel delivers what was promised with this one. Definitely a dessert beer, possibly best served as something to split between 1-3 people. I can't imagine drinking more than a can of this in one night; hell, I'm halfway through one can and the richness is getting to me. Just like cheesecake (and the cream cheese this was brewed with) it's amazing, but best in smaller portions.
