Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a snifter, light haze and a glowing salmon orange color. A few islands of suds with a thin, broken ring of suds encircling the edge. Minimal lacing with a small handful of broken lines and tiny spotting.
Smell - Fruity strawberry, buttered toast. Some sweet cake batter.
Taste - Follows the nose, so not unexpected but still odd beginning to the flavor profile; buttery toast... then some strawberry jam... And then boom! Pop tarts flavor just appears like a flick of a light. Strawberry, sugar and spice, that pop tart crust. Finish brings a ring of sourness, continuing sugar and still lingering buttery flavor.
Mouthfeel - Light to medium in body with light, tingly carbonation. Faint trace of puree sediment in the texture. Semi-dry finish.
Overall - Solid concept, and for the most part pulls it off, though there is a definite buttery flavor throughout. If you like butter like me, its not an issue, and actually works with the overall theme. I don't know that I'd drink this again, but A for effort?
