Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a tall, straight stemmed glass. Ruddy brown color. Mostly barren surface, with a fair ring encircling the outer edge. A few thin lines and some spotting make up a minimal lacing. 3.75
Smell - Sweet, with lesser earth and bitter notes. Brown sugar, nutty, and earthen hoppiness.
Taste - Sweet upfront with notes of brown sugar, toffee, some toasted biscuit. Light earthen walnut and shell bitterness develops mid-taste. Finish adds just a trace of raisin.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker with a hint of stickiness, especially as it begins to dry out in the finish.
Overall - Solid brown. Some interesting notes going on, and it goes down nicely, but just too much brown sugar sweetness for me to really get super excited about.
