Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a snifter, opaque and a berry violet-red in color with a a few tiny islands of suds dotting the surface. No lacing, but plenty of sediment from the fine fruit particles.
Smell - Mango stands out on the nose, with a mix of lesser aromas of raspberry and black currant.
Taste - More sweet and tropical than it is tart, though there's certainly enough to qualify it as a sour. Raspberry and black currant hit first, followed by the more mellow and tropical mango character. Berry tartness picks up again in the finish as the mango begins to fade.
Mouthfeel - Near full-bodied with low-to-moderate carbonation. Slick, with a smoothie-like texture. Goes down nice and easy.
Overall - They basically followed their Clown Drool recipe here but substituted the pomegranate for mango. While I prefer the former, I'm not mad at this one at all, even with my general apprehension for mango in beer.
