Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a snifter. Black with very minimal cola brown edging where the light can penetrate. Barren surface. No lacing.
Smell - Boozy bourbon sweetness catches the nose first, with deeper aromas of fudge, coffee, toasted coconut and vanilla.
Taste - Follows the nose to a degree. Super fudgy depth upfront and throughout, with notes of coconut, light vanilla, underlying coffee and a kiss of bourbon sweetness. Remarkably balanced for all that's going on here.
Mouthfeel - Full bodied with little carbonation. Thick, but velvety texture with a light stickiness left on the lips. Smooth as hell for 13.2%.
Overall - A feather in the cap for Burning Barrel on this one. Certainly up their with their best barrel aged offerings.
