Appearance - Poured into a standard 16oz pint glass, semi-opaque and "slime" green in color with an off-white, half finger width head. Fair retention before dying to a thin, broken layer of suds. A few broken strands, lines and small spots make up a minimal lacing.
Smell - Tart, green apple and cherry stand out in the nose, with pineapple coming in a distant third.
Taste - Follows the nose. Tart green apple is prominent, with cherry adds a secondary fruit note. Underlying pineapple hits mid-taste and hangs in that range the rest of the way. Finish brings a lot of the natural fruity sweetness to balance out the initial tart notes, mostly in the form of apple.
Mouthfeel - Medium-to-full in body with fair carbonation. Slick, smooth drinker with a slight syrupy feel. Slightly dry finish.
Overall - As tartness goes, this isn't anywhere near Burning Barrel's most tart of sour releases. Instead, it's got mid-high tartness with a lot of natural fruitiness coming from the added apple, cherry and pineapple; i.e. it's not Jolly Rancher sour apple tart. Lemon and lime were used, but I'm not picking them up, likely blending in with that sour apple character. It's a nice beer, and I love all things sour apple so my review might be higher than someone is is just a casual sour apple kinda guy.
