Deep black with a thick tan head - flavors of vanilla, espresso, chocolate, smoke, blueberry, cream. Medium body, somewhat sweet with balancing bitterness and roast - finish of bittersweet chocolate and espresso.

Clear, dark brown pour, dark and opaque brown in the glass; thick, frothy head, sculpted look, khaki hued, long-lasting and sticky. Sweet, dark malt aroma; caramel and roasted grains, delicate chocolate and cocoa undertones. Rich dark grain and chocolate flavors; milk chocolate; grain char bitterness offsetting the malt sweetness; sublime underlying whiskey-like booziness. Heavy body; smooth and silky; a bit overly-delicate for the style yet still very satisfying.

This nicely balanced, rich and flavorful imperial porter delivers the goods. It has a high ABV yet it doesn't detract from the beer overall. This beer has aged well in the ensuing 3-4 years that it was bottled.

ABV: 11.6%; pouring temperature: 51.6 °F; bottling info: Vintage 2021
