Dark amber orange body, clear; sparse carbonation; thick, lasting head, light khaki colored; thick, sticky rings of foam inside the glass mark each sip. Deep, rich aroma; sweet caramel and toffee tones. Stupendous taste; caramel, rye, anise and cinnamon, honey, raisins and dates. Heavy, syrupy body; dense and viscous; sublime alcohol warmth coursing beneath the heavy residual sugars.
This is a kick-ass American barleywine. Pushing nearly 13% ABV, it truly is deceptively easy drinking. The balance and depth are phenomenal. Beer craftsmanship at its finest!
ABV: 11.95%; pouring temperature: 58 °F; bottling info: 2024
