Pours a murky, medium-brown color; lively carbonation but no real head but a thin foamy ring clings to the glass. Rich, malty aroma; figs and dates; a sly hint of wooden cask. Big, boozy and malty flavor; rye-like spiciness offsets the malt sweetness; figs and raisins; boozy. Heavy body; smooth; sticky residual sugars.
Not the best barleywine I've had from Burns Family, but fair enough for a barrel-aged, high ABV beer.
ABV: 16.4%; pouring temperature: 50.2 °F; bottling info: n/a
