a spontaneously fermented wild beer with blueberries, oak barrels, spelt in the mash, nice can conditioning, really neat stuff, quite funky and wild, definitely lambic notes in the nose, saison yeast esters too though, white wine character from the yeasts, red wine character from the tannic and skinny blueberries, tart more than sweet in aroma and flavor, hearty oak on it but delicate overall, kind of floral, really pretty and drinkable beer, my wife and i both adored it, so sick these guys are canning beer at this level right now, wow. pretty rose pink hue from the can, a little more murky as we pour it down, but an airy white head stays floating on top, and the haze is appropriate for the style. the grain base is earthy and dry, a little terroir it seems from the spelt, rustic, wheaty, doughy, plays well with the brett in the ferment, and there is great barnyard funk to this overall. the oak adds a lot too, a vanilla note which makes the fruit especially sexy, and it balances the acidity that this leans into a little bit as it warms. cut flowers, pink wine, cooked blueberries, ripe raspberries, light white pepper spiciness, wonderful dry funkiness, and fantastic carbonation. really special beer here, but i am starting to learn that all of the dwinell stuff is pretty special. just awesome!
