super heady beer here, collaboration with the upstart obelisk, which is where i had it. coolship inoculated, grenache barrel fermented, and refermented on zinfandel grapes, aged hops and all in this, and it ends up being one of the more wild, funky, mature, and refined beers ive ever had from these guys, wow! the color is epic, flamingo pink under an airy inch and a half of bone white belgian looking fluff, all accentuated by the really unique glassware they put it in at obelisk, almost electric looking, very sexy. the nose here is super vinous, but it also hits like lambic, its tart, notes of ripe raspberry, red currant, and elderberry to me, with an obvious provence rose vibe from the grapes, all the oak too is there, more brett than bacteria to me too, nicely developed. more fruit in the taste from tart cherry to plum, an earthy and dry multigrain base upholding it all, rose petal and more delicate cranberry and strawberry notes, but very much like wine too, so much grape here, obviously more zinfandel than grenache but if im being nerdy i get both. perfect pucker to this without it being acidic, enough floral and fruity notes that it stays light and springy, super dry at the end too. impressive complexity to the ferment, not heavy from the wood, and with awesome carbonation. i loved every drop of this, and hope obelisk does some stuff like this on their own when they get up and running. this was the only one of its kind when we were in, very much dwinell, among their best in my experience!

edit: this one is holding up pretty well over time, just opened a can from what i must assume was the only packaging run of this, now in summer 2025, and its so dry, interesting, and still fruit forward. oaky with light tartness and a lot of funk, blackberry and black currant, white florals, and a raw wheaty softness, lambic adjacent, light, some color fade perhaps from what it was, leaving original scores alone but this certainly has matured in a nice way over the last few years. sad these guys are no longer...
