Had on tap at the brewery. Pours opaque, jet black in color with one inch head. Taste is smooth roasted malt and vanilla. Heavy body, low carbonation, roasty. Nice straightforward RIS. Makes for a tasty sipper that I would have again but not necessarily rush out for.

Canned 10/05/20
Pours a med frothy foamy 1/2 finger brown head with good retention and soapy lacing, jet black color
Nose brings black malts, a bit of a roasty character but more like Schwarzbier style black malts, some roasted coffee, and a hint of dark chocolate, a bit of burnt caramel, and low to med spicy earthy hops
Taste brings more of the roasted dark malts, again black malt like, maybe Carafa, with some burnt marshmallow nougat flavor, and a hint of baking spices, a little coffee, and burnt caramel again, a touch of a mocha java chocolate character but not much, rich chewy nougat, then earthy spicy hops kick in, med to a bit higher bitterness from the hops and roasted malts, burnt caramel and some coffee lingering, but again no char, mild sticky sweet finish with a flash of alcohol, more spicy hop bitterness as well
Mouth is fuller bod, rich chewy, med foamy carb, a touch of warming alcohol
Overall not bad, in the ballpark for RIS, nice levels of roast and burnt sweet characters without char or acrid, nice heavy-ish hop level that doesn't go beyond where it should, alcohol is fairly smooth, nice enjoyable stout

It’s always fun to see how many flavors you can coax out of just 4 simple ingredients of malt, water, hops and yeast. Full bodied with rich layers of bittersweet chocolate, coffee, roast and toffee notes that intertwine with hints of dark fruit.
ABV: 9.3%
MALT: Maris Otter, Wheat, Chocolate, Roasted Barley, Special B, Flaked Oats
HOPS: Columbus
Can poured into a snifter
Dark brown liquid, two finger crackly , frothy brown foam cap, recedes slowly, sticky lacings
Aroma of chocolate, toffee and roast malts
Taste is chocolate, roast malts
Mildly sweet, not bitter, roaste notes linger
Good beer
