Pours a slightly cloudy, deep, dark amber, coppery coloration with a large, fluffy, lasting head. Smell is dominated by bready, grainy, slightly caramelly malt and lighter accents of floral, herbal hops, with berry notes of gooseberry and strawberry. Taste is a good balance of rather pronounced bready, grainy and caramel malt and floral, herbal and slightly spicy and dank hops, with soft citrus and berry notes of tangerine, gooseberry and strawberry. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some tangerine, strawberry and dank, herbal accents lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth, full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

While they call this an "EU IPA", some soccer reference that I couldn't care less about, it really feels like a somewhat typical German IPA to me, if there is such a thing, with its quite malty character and bitter, floral, herbal hops, as well as citrus and berry notes. Perhaps a bit of an atypical IPA, but as I said many times before, I can rather enjoy that and I think that while the malts are a bit prominent here, there's still a rather good overall balance to this, with a bit of a unique character that is pretty interesting to me. I've never had a beer from Heinenhof that I didn't enjoy and this is certainly no exception.
