A: Pours an opaque thick viscous jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark chestnut brown + dark cola brown + dark garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a four finger tall dense foamy dark mocha head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering a little more than 80% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of cinnamon, moderate aromas of vanilla, and light to moderate aromas of coffee. Moderate aromas of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with a moderate to strong amount of caramel + lactose sweetness. Light aromas of earthy hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted + chocolate + caramel malts with a moderate to strong amount of caramel + lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of cinnamon, moderate flavors of vanilla, and light to moderate flavors of coffee. Finally there is a light flavor of earthy hops. Light to moderate amounts of roasty bitterness which fades away leaving slightly stronger than moderate amounts of sweet maltiness and cinnamon.
M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.
O: Drinks pretty easily considering the strength and sweetness and just shy of full mouthfeel. Very enjoyable and not overly sweet - the cinnamon + vanilla + coffee balance it out somewhat. Definitely a slow sipper and a great after dinner dessert.
