Pours jet black, literally no head after a very aggressive pour, and nary a bubble to be seen. The nose has a healthy bourbon component and some roasty char and cocoa.

The bourbon is also present on the taste, but the roasty char and rich cocoa flavors are the stars here - there’s a really nice balance to the myriad flavors present in this beer.

The mouthfeel is flat, though, and not in line with what this beer should command at 9%. I’m almost wondering if there was a carbonation issue, given the complete absence of bubbles on the pour, zero head, and a mouthfeel that is watery.

But there’s some pretty spectacular flavors here. I’d love to try this with proper carbonation.
