Light haze to the rich amber color. Large head but it slowly settles to a thin film on the liquid. Surprisingly little lace, only tiny spots.
The chief aroma is the essence of anise. Behind this is pale malt and faint fruit.
Smooth start with a solid pale malt base, the beer is rich for an APA. Good carbonation. The bite in the swallow is licorice like. There's a light, dry (and not sour) cherry in the finish. Mild, but interesting aftertaste with the anise lasting the longest.
