Hazy pale yellow moderate head with modest lacing, big grapefruit dominates early and throughout. Full body, moderate to strong carbonation but still creamy. Very good!

-Give me the formula. 02.15.21 consumed 05.21.21. NEIPA brewed with pineapple and lactose.

A: Big foamy white head dominates the vessel, this may have been my first sign, above a pineapple-orange body, that surprisingly was fairly clear, no hazy factor here. Carbonation was very faint tiny microbeads rising in a linear fashion. Big patchwork of lace deposits. Coloring was good, not great, had no lactose or haze support for that milky appearance i expected per style and per name (bomb). Standard fair viewing here.

S: Fresh wet pineapple juice on the nose, was fruity with perhaps some peaches. Simplified aroma, decent strength, not great again, with a a slight background of tartness.

T: The flavor was tart pineapple, again very simplified in execution with little support factor of other minor factors per style. Dried peach, very linear in flavor, with no exciting points or standout character. Sweet and tart pineapple best sums things up here.

M: Good mouthful, again pretty basic, the lactose did little or nothing appearance wise, and seems to have followed through in the mouthful department. Very minimal usage, a non-factor and again nothing that really stands out as good nor bad.

O: Overall basic and minimal execution best sums up this project. As much as I love NEIPA, as well pineapple, this fell flat for me, with no real distinction outside the pineapple influence, and again a very basic and linear drinking experience with no spike of flavors or individual character, and one that remained basic from the first impression to the last. And if you thought that last sentence was a run-on, so was my drinking experience with this, mundane, and one that didn't seem to end fast enough. Again, not bad, but really projected the most basic and minimal effort one can expect. On a side note the can is a keeper for its artwork and design. Not sure how if the aging had anything to do with it, the extreme competition and flooding of style, or my tiring tongue of style where I expect so much from my vast tastings and high expectations. Either way I will let you decide for yourself. For me its a basic 3.5.

Haziness is light in this pale straw beer with highlights of dirty lemon throughout (SRM 2-5). The two-inch, creamy white head holds for a couple of minutes before turning rocky and suddenly retreating. Patches of sticky lace cling to a Spieglau IIPA glass. After stirring the sediment and adding to the glass, it is transformed to a murky haze and is a full step darker.

Sponge Bomb smells like dusty hay with touches of lemon and hints of pine. The added sediment made no significant difference.

Mild bitterness with a flavor that is similar to mild lemon pith. The bitter/sweet balance is even. Light pine notes are apparent. Sediment adds slightly more earthiness. The finish is mild and more a characteristic of mouthfeel than flavor. Warmth brings out more earthiness and mild mint. I consider this an improvement.

The full body and soft, cushy texture give this a creamy feel. Carbonation is light and alcohol is slightly below expectations.

At first, I thought this was some new version of IPA, as it is clearly not what I was expecting. Still, it was enjoyable. The can says it is super juicy, which is certainly not my experience. After checking, the can date is five months old. I should have checked the date before purchasing, however, I never expected to find a beer so far out of date in the cooler AT THE BREWERY.

Especially with IPAs, it's not cool to leave it for the customer to discover an out of date can. Perhaps one would claim this review is invalid due to the freshness of the can. I feel otherwise, because they accepted my money (for a four pack) and had such little care for their own product. Normally I would withhold posting a review of an old can, but others should know that they can't expect this brewer to monitor their own quality. Perhaps somebody else will let us know how this beer measures up when fresh.
