Being that the reviews on here are quite old and that the beer wasn't sold to me as Bassler Ale, I am not sure its the same beer. I had this two days ago on my visit to Bugsy's/Brown Street Brewing. It was sold to me as Amber Red with no mention of another name. It was a dark brown or dark amber color with a decent head of about 1 centimeter that was clinging to the glass some. Gentle and sweet malt nose. Perhaps some fruit or floral undertones in the nose as well. Quick burst of hops in the flavor but the malt comes quickly with an undertone or backdrop of mild caramel. The hops stays on the roof of your mouth all through the flavor. The hops resonates at the finish and there is a little bite to the aftertaste. I can't get too excited about it, but I also don't think the previous reviews on here reflect the current quality of the establishment.

When I asked it's style, I was told "an ale." So, take the style listing for what my guess is. Bassler Ale is a below par of my last visit to Bugsy's, but I didn't review those beers unfortunately. This was a copper that's shiny and worn around the edges. Light head that fell quickly. First taste was strong and a bit shocking--second a bit better with the warning. Maslty taste, roast malt, metallic and solvent-like. A problematic beer, and unfortunately, the only one of the menu that day of brewed in house.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
