One of two barrel aged brews from the folks at '88.
Appearance - Pours a chestnut brown with two fingers of frothy beige head.
Smell - earthy, leafy, grassy, and floral hops, toffee, caramel, cocoa, hint of coffee bean, bready roasted malts, woody and smoky aromas from the barrel, and earthy yeast.
Taste - earthy, leafy, grassy, and floral hops upfront. The toffee, caramel, cocoa, hint of coffee bean, and the woody and smoky aromas from the barrel follow suit. The bready roasted malts and earthy yeast finish the brew off.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops and the woody and smoky aromas from the barrel lingering.
Overall - A bold attempt at barrel aging a dark lager in tequila barrels. The elements of the brew are done very well and the barrel just helps all the flavours work in unison with one another. Grab a bottle in the taproom while it lasts as this won't last long.
