Dive in hop heads...new adventures in hop technology!!
For Leisure Center we've used multiple types of hop technologies with several hopping techniques to achieve very high dry hopping rates, huge aromas, and juicy flavors while minimizing grassy notes and vegetal flavors. Technically, this hopping rate would be 3x bigger than anything we've done yet! 30 grams per liter!! This beer uses the same water profile from Pillow Talk and even creamier malt bill with several different varieties of oats. Then cometh the hops! We started with heavy whirlpool additions of Ekuanot Incognito, Citra Incognito, and Citra Cryo and after the whirlpool, we performed a DIP hop which is essentially steeping the hops before pushing into the fermenter. This helps pull compounds that would be volatilized at higher temperatures, yet not quite extracted at dry hop temps, adding a huge aroma and flavor boost. Once in the fermenter we did a double dry hop with Citra Cryo and Ekuanot. Which added even more layers of hoppy goodness!

Sampled from a howler purchased at 5vines (Wildwood) and compared with a can.
"Suit Up!"
A high density high hop IPA.
Appearance - Pours a hazy apricot with three fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - citrus, tropical, hint of piney, and floral hops, citrus and grapefruit peel, apricot, pineapple, mango, passion fruit, peach, hint of pine resin, guava, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - citrus, tropical, piney, and floral hops upfront. The citrus and grapefruit peel come through next followed by the bitter pine resin and the tropical fruits of passion fruit, mango, and guava followed by the peach, pineapple, and apricot. The bready malts and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops, pine resin, and tropical fruits lingering.
Overall - A nice brew that is on the New England IPA spectrum but adds a nice punch from a West Coast IPA being the pine resin. I feel that this balances out the haziness and fruitiness and thus is much appreciated on my end. A best of both worlds.
