L- It looks like a Long Island Iced tea, pale brown and very cloudy (pond-water). Not that that is any problem for me in itself.... this isn't any kind of standard-issue beer! !mm white head, doesn't linger, no surprise as at an ABV% of 10% it hasn't the surface tension to maintain foam.
S- Surprising for a barley wine, mild citrus, orange I believe.
T- Ooph! Mild citrus indeed, somewhere in the vicinity of slightly bitter orange and then into a lovely gentle ABV-zing across the palate.
F- It might be 10% but it's at no risk (to me) of being over-rich. The hops are quite vibrant, the (to me) bitter aromatic orange is quite pronounced. I think those various aspects all triangulate and balance well.
O- Doesn't taste like a trad barley-wine to me, but I'm enjoying it NO less for that. It's very drinkable and I'd be delighted to drink it again - esp if someone else bought it for me at £5.60 a can! ;; Nice, very different. I haven't read the can yet but am intrigued if it makes ref to citrus/orange? notes.
440ml can BB: 02Dec2024
Now I'll read the can... hmmm, all they allude to is 'caramel, toffee and fruit' nothing more specific than that; so, you decide!
