We could have easily called our new fruit beer release, “Blueberry Ale”. But to folks ‘round these parts, blueberries have always been affectionately known as “huckleberries!” Picking “huckleberries” was a rite of passage for coal region children into adulthood, as well as a supplemental means of survival for hard-working adults doing their best to provide for their family’s needs. Perhaps, more importantly, it was a means of family bonding unlike any other seen in society today. Here at Stoker’s, we are proud of that tradition and heritage, and the vital role it once played in the growth of coal region communities and this country.Fermented with the fresh-pressed juices of locally-picked wild “huckleberries”. Blueish-purple in color and effervescent, with a slight lactic sourness on the tart, dry and refreshing finish.
