16 oz can, no date here, but I assume it's fresh as it just hit a week ago. North Coast Tulip.
A surprising golden haze erupts into the glass, I was expecting some frothy pink action. Head is fleeting; 1 finger and then dwindles immediately to a fingernail. No lace.
Aroma is urinal cake and malt, maybe a slight whiff of strawberry tops, but nothing really popping here.
Flavor is inoffensive and lends to an easy drinking beer, but is not true to style or as complementary to its namesake. I get bready pilsner malt and some slight strawberry fluff, mixed with strawberry cereal and slight grassiness. It's definitely not a huge beer in any regard. It's almost like a slightly sour strawberry blonde ale. Drinks like one too. And holy shit - watch out for those can lids, I took a sip out of the can too, and almost cut my lip open. Super sharp.
Feel is crisp, easy, summer-like, semi-creamy on the back half, no heat, no residue, crisp finish with minimal starches.
Overall, not a repeat purchase from me. Boring, but easy, and would be a great 90 degree beer. Definitely not a candidate for the fruited sour program. View this as a slightly tangy strawberry blonde ale.
South Dakota still has not pooped out a world-class brewery. Maybe in 10 years. *_*
