Look: Picked up as a 6 pack of 16-ounce cans in September 2020. Poured into a half liter mug at a 45-degree angle. Head is initially 1” above fluid surface and slowly fades away after a minute with a ring left at the top of the beer. Ring lingers until the beer is almost gone like grandma until a wolf swallows her whole. Dark amber color that you can’t see your drinking mate through. Your eyes will be so big when looking at this beer, the better to admire it.
Smell: Very light smell that must be searched out for to catch the toasted malt smells of the beer like a wolf searching out little red riding hood in a forest. Difficult initially but once you locate it, you don’t want to let it get away from you.
Taste: Very delicate flavor instantly expanding into a classic marzen taste on the back of the tongue. Notes of rich malty sweetness delivers to your tongue like a basket of delicious food for sick, old grandma. Your tongue can’t wait to have another taste of this tasty snack. The spices play a support role in this beer adding depth to the flavor while not overpowering the maltiness like a wolf overpowering grandma. Your mouth will be so big when drinking this the better to enjoy it with.
Feel: Full mouth experience, that you know you're drinking a good marzen beer. Party in your stomach like you have just swallowed grandma and little red riding hood.
Overall: I have searched out many different brand’s marzen style beers and this is one is in my top 3 marzen beers. For being an American brewery with no partner with a German brewery like others, this beer will give them a ran for their money any day. This hunter will come save grandma and little red riding hood any day you crack a can. Highly recommend checking this beer out if you’re a marzen lover.
