Poured from a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug, now showing a black coffee colored liquid with a brown head that dissipated pretty quickly. The requisite roasted malt smell is there, bringing reminders of coffee and dark chocolate. The taste starts malty sweet, but not overly so. During the aftertaste, an expresso like flavor takes over. Basically, it starts toward the sweet and smooth side and finishes tasting much like plain black expresso, sort of the experience of many a breakfast Danish washed down with black coffee. It's not very boozy for its 9.2% ABV. Not outstanding, but better than good enough.

 

Pours light motor oil, true to style with dry, biting bitter finish. Maybe not the best in genre, but fsr from the worst.
