This beer pours a very dark color and is virtually opaque with a moderate caramel-colored head. It has a very mild, almost non-existent aroma. The taste is earthy and very pleasant. I detect coffee and caramel undertones. It has a creamy texture, similar to a good quality root beer.

16 oz can. Date on bottom of can is a bit smudged, but bought this 4 pack at the brewery a few weeks ago.
Pours black in color, with thick tan colored head. Nice head retention and lacing. Pleasant aroma of mild roasty coffee and dark cocoa. A little nutty earthiness in there too. Similar taste - great depth to the flavor even though its not overly bold (as it shouldn't be for the style). Very balanced and drinkable. Medium bodied, very smooth mouthfeel, appropriate carbonation.
Overall an excellent example of the style and drinks great.
