The head is big and white and fluffy. That's usually not a good sign, especially with a brew carrying a 10%+ ABV. Most often it means wheat has been used as a softening/hazing ingredient and there goes the mouthfeel, body and overall taste to a true IPA lover. There's also some uneven lacing of the glass as the head recedes, another bad sign. The color of the brew itself is a light orange-amber and it is opaque. The aroma is muted, nothing noticeably hoppy, malty, nor yeasty. Honestly, before the tasting, expectations run low to mediocre. But, it's not bad. It's sweet and obviously missing a hearty malt contribution because of the shortchanging of barley to get the starchy softness, probably via oats and wheat. The sweetness would be more acceptable were there there some earthiness or other depth to the malt. Bottom line: This is a bland way to get a nice buzz. It's not offensive, but there isn't one compelling aspect to recommend the overall taste or mouthfeel of this beer.
