16oz can purchased off the shelf as a 4-pack for $12.99. Canned on 9/7/2021, so this is almost 5 months old.
Look: Has a slightly hazy, golden color. There was a finger and half of fluffy, rocky off-white head that slowly dissipated to a half finger of fluffy head. Looks nice.
Smell: It smells very peppery. There is that green bell pepper note that comes through strongly, especially after swirling the beer. There are some mild citrus (orange peel) and sweet tropical fruit (papaya, mango) notes that come through as well. Perhaps a subtle sweet apple aroma? Overall, it smells clean and crisp.
Taste: It's a tasty and refreshing beer. Up front, it has a nice bready, slighly spicy flavor. The finish on this beer is very bitter, peppery, and pithy. I get mandarin orange peel notes lingering after the bitterness subsides, but there is really nothing juicy about this beer.
Feel: Appropriately carbonated, light to medium mouthfeel. The head retention is nice, which gives it a subtle creaminess.
Overall: This beer is not for the faint of heart! I like it, but I think that folks that have an aversion to bitterness may not enjoy this brew. It definitely seems to be representative of the IPL style with its crisp, clean malt profile and highly bitter finish.
Note from the brewery's website: Brewed in celebration of our 3rd Anniversary, this India Pale Lager features experimental hops for a crisp, easy drinking experience.
