Very nice pour. Black, but not solid black color. Very nice head that stays around.
Very solid taste. A bit of bitterness, not too much. Smooth.
Very good beer.

Pours a deep dark brown color with ruby edges and almost two fingers of tan head. The nose has roasted notes but also complimentary notes of dark fruit. The flavor has a hearty roastiness upfront followed by a hint of licorice. The finish is dry and shows off the hoppy sided of this offering. The body is spot on for the style.
This is a well crafted big stout.

A pint can at a cool room temperature has been emptied into a clear Imperial pint glass. Its color is black coffee brown and the brief appearance of a head might have been tan, maybe a dark tan. There's a very nice aroma of roasted malts for the nose. They're uncomplicated, without any additional flavorings. This smells just like a good Imperial Stout should. Almost all malts, with some roasted and some on the sweet side. It drinks fairly well. The sweetness isn't as pronounced to the taste as it was to the nose. There's just a little more alcohol to taste than to smell. The malts of stouts always find reminiscent flavors, even if none are added. For this one, it's a reminder of good black licorice. But, it's not at all overly sweet for the style. There is an obvious hop contribution, as well. It is a little thin across the tongue, devoid of the glass lacing eye candy and a little less complex than the great Imperial Stouts are. All the negatives exposed, this really is a good, but not elite, IS and it's recommended. After delivering a good tasting version at a barely noticeable 10% ABV, it finishes toward the dry side and invites another. That may not be for the best, at times.
