In a taster size - very nice, I’d like to have time for a full beer.

Notes via stream of consciousness: Cryo Shock pours a very hazy golden body beneath a finger's width of creamy white foam. If you tilt the glass and then right it you'll see that there's plenty of particulate in suspension moving along with you. The aroma is not as bright as I thought it might be but it's nice. There's sweetish malt, a candyish fruitness, more specific notes of pineapple and lime, and a bit of citrus pith. The flavor is much brighter, and fairly unusual. The sweetish malt and candyish fruit remain along with sugary lime, nectarine, mango, papaya, pineapple, and a drip of grapefruit. It's not that bitter so I'm assuming they were going for a New England style thing, and they've pulled it off nicely. It's sweet upfront but still mostly dry in the finish due to a very light acidty and some "hop burn'. It finishes with some "dankness", delicate herbs, and a dusting of dry earth coming out. I'm really flying through this as it's quite compelling. With each sip I want to go back to find more in it. Unfortunately I'm not finding anything else, although there is something there that I just can't put my finger on. That, however, makes me want to keep tasting it. At 8.4% ABV I'm going to need to slow it down. The head held up really well and although I've now only got a razor thin surface covering it is almost completely solid, and there are rings of interconnected craggy lace all the way up the glass to where the head first formed. What did I miss? Mouthfeel. Hmmm... it feels bigger because of all the extra proteins but I think it's actually only medium-light in body. A soft but gently tingly carbonation brightens it up. I really like it, and I love the kind of weird note of lime. That, for me, combined with the bitterness, the light acidity, and the "hop burn" is what makes it really work. The other tropical fruits and the sweetish and grainy malt base just support that and make it even more of the star of the show even though it doesn't jump right out at you. All in all I feel this is a great double NEIPA that's really well made and dangerously quaffable.
