Workhorse Brewing Co. "Clocked In"
16 fl. oz. can "CANNED ON 01.09.23 09:04 535/6 MADE RIGHT" and sampled on 02.19.23
$16.99/4-pk @ 5 Points Beer, Montgomeryville, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a hazy double India pale ale at 8.8% ABV. It's poured a cloudy golden-orange body beneath a two finger thick head of slightly off-white foam. The aroma is resinous, citrusy, otherwise tropically fruity, and piney over a grainy malt base. Quite often double IPAs lak a little bit of hop aroma because there's so much malt to deal with but that's not the case here. The taste reveals that there IS a lot of malt there, which is a good thing. It feels hefty, and it's solidly bitter. The malt is sweetish, grainy, wheaty, and oaty. On the hop side I'm getting more resins ("dankness") and pine than I am citrus and other tropical fruits but I'm still finding some orange, pineapple, peach, melon, and a hint of berry. It's definitely bitter but it's balanced nicely and you get a lot of fruitiness lingering in the finish along with the pine and resin. It's full-medium in body, and soft and smooth across the palate due to all of the extra proteins and a median, fine-bubbled carbonation. For lovers of dank, "take no prisoners" double IPAs this is a no brainer; it's solid across the board.

This one pours nicely to empty a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. The stark white head is modest and appearantly enduring. The color of the liquid is richly apricot-amber, with a very nice hue. It's relatively bright, but also opaque. It has no pronounced aroma, but it seems like whatever else was in the wort, oats were also included. To taste, this has a sharp piney, with a touch of citrus, character. There's a little earthiness in the finish, which prevents it from being overly bitter. It has a very good inclusion of a high ABV into the taste. Its body may not be remarkable, but it carries some full tastes nicely. There's some glass lacing, but it's not overly impressive. For it's category, this is definitely above the average.
