Pouring a clear, golden color with bright white lacing, this brew showcases extremely tropical aromas (think fruity pebbles meets jolly ranchers). Flavors of sweet pineapple and mango on a bone dry body make this brew deceptively easy to drink, even with its high ABV!

Notes via stream of consciousness: Uh oh... "ALE WITH NATURAL FLAVORS". If I'd seen that at first I might not have bought it, but OK, I did, so let's see how it is. It's poured a lightly hazy, but mostly clear, golden body beneath a two finger thick head of dense, slightly off-white foam. It's definitely not a hazy IPA, but neither is it a clear IPA. That's fine, a lot of breweries are leaving their beers with a light haze these days, even for styles that should be clear. The aroma suggests pineapple, peach, and grapefruit gummi candies. Weird. I'm going to assume that that's the "natural flavors" at work as I've never smelled a beer like this before. There's some resin to it as well but it still doesn't really smell like a beer. On to the taste... it's better than I thought it would be because it's more complex but it still has a candy character that's odd. There's less grapefruit and more red berry and tropical fruit. It's sweet but not too sweet, although it is headed in that direction. What's the ABV on this? 10%!!! That's not bad! The alcohol is present but unobtrusive, so at least they did a good job with that. It helps to balance out the sweetness and keep it from becoming a fruit soda. The head has dropped at this point, far earlier than I expected it would, but that's probably because of the high alcohol. No lacing has been left behind. So what else is in the flavor? It's kind of generically tropical: guava, mango, orange, peach or nectarine, background melon, and a touch of passion fruit. It's interesting but weird, and it seems more like a malternative than an IPA. Actually, it reminds me of a radler or shandy. As it warms I'm getting more of the alcohol but that's to be expected, and it's still OK. I can see now why this was displayed alongside the malt liquors and malternatives (spiked lemonade, hard iced tea, etc.). I can't say that this is very good, nor can I even say that it's good, BUT if you look at it in comparison with some of the horrible beers found across the globe it's not that bad. I'll be able to drink this whereas I've had a lot of drain-pours overseas. In conclusion, I can see why they've made this as there's a market for these kinds of things, and I can see why they've used the flavorings and kept away from hops, but in the end it's not a very good beer, and hardly an IPA. They do call it an IPA, right? Yes, it's labeled as an "Imperial Juicy IPA".

Poured into a goblet: color is gold, head is off white and presents a 1/4 inch thick but dissipates quickly to nothing, ring a long the glass side.

Smell is mixed tropicals, sweet, notes of white wine and grape like notes.

Taste is more pronounced but similar is mixed tropicals, sweet wine like notes with notable grape skin and chardonnay like notes.

Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, lower bitterness.

Overall a slightly juicy yet wine like flavor in a big IPA package.
