Used motor oil black with syrupy legs and a thin tan collar.
Thickly viscous, the stroopwaffel actually does make itself present right away, but with a cloying and acrid sugar quality running along with it, as well as a not so pleasant touch of orange lozenge. However, the caramel waffle is fairly tasty, pairing with some honey before verging into a strong boozy heat that finishes off sticky dry.
There's a slight hint of nuts, but not really anything distinct, and nothing like what I was expecting in reading the label.
One amusing note that has nothing to do with the liquid in the bottle--aside from the fact that I find it odd that a non-barrel aged beer was waxed in the first place--the wax was so solidly plasticky that it actually came COMPLETELY off of the bottle as I tried to strip it off with a Three Floyds axe, leaving the bottle cap still pristinely attached and the wax removed, but entirely in tact.
