A buddy and i worked the Altered States festival on 7-27-24 and each received a four-pack as a gift from Eighth State. We split the IPA and the Smoked Lager. Canned 7-19-24, consumed two cans for review 7-30-24.
Beer poured golden orange with a nice white head with the original pour.
Nose is malty with a hint of smoke.
Taste is a wheat malt base imparted with a small percentage of Beechwood smoked malts that give the base a smoked meat flavor and a bit of a sharp edge. Finishes with adequate hopping to lend a slight lean towards a bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is soft and smooth with each sip.
Overall, the King of Beers is an interesting choice to pattern a beer for a collaboration.
