This is the beer that drew me to Liability Brewing in Greenville, SC. Saw this on the Oznr app and decided to take the plunge on the 2022 edition of this 500 ml bottle 9-4-22 for $13.99.
Beer poured orange brown with an okay white head.
Nose has a slight sour tang that may be the turn of yeast light fruit phenols changing in the barrel. Also getting a touch of vanilla and bourbon.
Taste comes along pretty nicely as the base beer gives a large but lighter malt base that gives some light banana and apple. Barrel characteristics give a classic bourbon impartation finishing with some vanilla sweetness but enough bourbon to keep things balanced.
Mouthfeel lacks classic Tripel lightness, medium bodied and not overly smooth.
Overall a pretty solid tasting barrel aged American Tripel. I find most brewers in the new world struggle to execute all aspects in the old-world fashion. Regardless, a fun beer to try!
