Aged in fresh Newport Craft Thomas Tew Rum barrels for 6 months. Huge rum aroma with slightly milder notes of vanilla and coconut. Balanced oak tannin and molasses fade into subtle heat.

Pours the color and clarity of prune juice with a consistent, cream-colored skim that coalesces around the shoulders. Nose is fairly subdued - just the merest hints of rum and a kiss of dark fruit. Rum is overly assertive in the flavor profile and overshadows the malt profile and lingers at the finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body, with an astringent character, a prickly carbonation and some residual heat at the finish. Overall too much barrel on this beer. It overwhelms everything else.
