On tap at the brewery
Checking another brewery of my RI brewery journey tonight. This one piqued my interest, you don’t usually see prickly pear as an adjunct. Let’s see what it’s all about
Pours a cloudy bright red with a finger of pink tinted white head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
This is pretty sweet in the nose, not bad but it doesn’t have much bite. I’m picking up on aromas of cherry candy, earthy guava, lemon zest, crackery malt, and light watermelon
It’s a bit more tart in taste, but it still has a weird candied sweetness that I don’t love. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart cherry, prickly pear, cantaloupe, bready malt, and lemon juice. The swallow brings notes of watermelon candy, prickly pear, bready malt, lime zest, and light guava
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a creamy beer. Finishes mostly dry with a touch of tartness
It’s decent. I’ll definitely give it to them for being unique but it just doesn’t quite hit the mark for me
