Review from notes taken in Bratislava in 2011:
.5L can ran me 50 (euro) cents at a Tesco. 3% ABV.
Expectations are below average given it's a dirt cheap supermarket beer.
HEAD: Thin grey-white head dissipates within 10 seconds, leaving no lacing.
BODY: Clear pale yellow. Weak, light, and watery.
Appears undercarbonated. Far from unique or special in appearance. Doesn't look very good.
AROMA: Faint apple juice. Clean 6-row barley. Pilsner malt. Light and muted. Not very evocative of anything.
I don't detect yeast, off-notes, or overt booze.
TASTE: Clean 6-row, light apple juice, subdued pilsner malt. Painfully simple, but not watery - to its credit. A biteen metallic, though. I don't find any yeasty or boozy notes.
Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour.
Not intricate, nuanced, or subtle. Pretty bland fare with a boring build for an ostensible pilsner. It's inoffensive, at least.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, a bit stale, overcarbonated, and light on the palate, though its sharp overcarbonation is unpleasant. Somewhat refreshing in spite of its carbonation bite. Has too much heft on the palate; doesn't complement the flavours well.
OVERALL: A downable but unremarkable beer. Unlike many other supermarket generic lagers, it isn't watery or syrupy, but it's definitely insipid. I wouldn't get it again in spite of its affordable price. Meh.
